Flutter and Dart Take Center Stage at Google Cloud Next 2026: Full-Stack Dart and GenUI Revolution Announced

Breaking: Google Unveils Full-Stack Dart with Firebase Functions at Cloud Next 2026

Google Cloud Next 2026 in Las Vegas saw the Flutter and Dart team announce a preview of Dart support for Firebase Functions, enabling developers to use Dart for both frontend and backend. This marks a major shift toward full-stack Dart development, reducing context switching and improving velocity.

“We are thrilled to bring Dart to the cloud with Firebase Functions,” said Emma Twersky, Developer Advocate at Google. “This preview allows developers to write server-side logic in Dart, unifying their entire stack.” The announcement was accompanied by deeper integrations using the Dart Admin SDK.

Onsite Exhibit: GenLatte AI Coffee Shop

In a striking demo of generative UI, Google built GenLatte, an AI-powered coffee shop at the center of Next. Attendees used a Flutter GenUI app to order drinks, then watched baristas create lattes with custom foam art generated by Google’s nanobanana AI.

“GenLatte shows the power of Flutter GenUI to create dynamic, interactive user experiences in real time,” said Andrew Brogdon, a Flutter engineer. The booth was a crowd favorite, blending AI, Flutter, and a splash of fun.

Agentic Mobile and Web Demos

The expo floor featured three Dart and Flutter demos: Full-Stack Dart, GenUI, and a special appearance by Very Good Ventures (VGV). Developers saw live coding of Firebase Functions for Dart and the Partiful app, whose UI is generated on the fly.

“This is the future of app development – AI-generated UIs that adapt instantly,” noted Rody Davis, Dart Product Manager. The Builder hub served as a home base for the developer community, with dedicated booths for Flutter, Firebase, and Go.

Customer Stories: Toyota and Talabat Scale with Flutter

Enterprise adoption was a key theme. Abdallah Shaban hosted sessions where Toyota revealed plans to use Flutter for next-generation automotive infotainment systems, while Talabat showed how Flutter helps the Middle East food delivery giant innovate faster.

“Flutter allows us to deliver consistent, high-quality UX across all our vehicle platforms,” said a Toyota spokesperson. Talabat echoed the sentiment, citing faster scaling with Flutter.

Background: Google Cloud Next 2026

Google Cloud Next is Google’s flagship cloud conference, drawing over 30,000 attendees this year. The Flutter and Dart team has a significant presence, showcasing how Google Cloud powers mobile and web innovation with the Dart ecosystem.

The event included a Developer Keynote by Emma Twersky and Richard Seroter, emphasizing agents and full-stack Dart as part of Google Cloud’s strategy.

What This Means

Dart support for Firebase Functions breaks down the barrier between frontend and backend development, allowing Dart developers to stay in one language across the entire stack. For enterprises, this means faster development cycles and reduced complexity.

The GenUI demonstrations hint at a future where AI dynamically generates user interfaces, moving beyond static screens to adaptive, agent-driven experiences. With customer stories from Toyota and Talabat, Flutter is proving its mettle in production at scale.
